Well, you may be a bit confused about what a spa lifestyle expert is doing writing about Charles Fazzino! So let me clarify and we’ll get on our merry way.

Art of the Spa is all about bringing the relaxing and rejuvenating vibe of a spa to your home in style! Forget blah (taupe marble & muzak) spa – we fashion it for your taste.

There’s a Fazzino in the House! How to Style a Room to Flaunt It

Now Fazzino’s art – the energizing colors and joyous approach – makes me smile. Imagine displaying this art so you get to enjoy it every day – it’s like a sunshine spa treat for your walls. Yes, a Fazzino is the epitome of whimsical spa vogue!

But here’s the million dollar question, “How do you incorporate such a striking art object into your digs?”

Now don’t get me wrong – I vehemently oppose “matching” artwork with a room, but I do believe that we buy what we love – so while you’re shopping around here on Fazzino you will undoubtedly choose something that WILL BE gorgeous in your home.

Here are two of my favorite interior design approaches to tying art into your space so they synergistically elevate each other:

I. Room Color Scheme

Put down that paintbrush! You don’t need all white walls to fix all eyes to your Fazzino. Instead, steal a spa design secret from me, when styling a room, keep most colors in the room in similar tones or go totally monochromatic.

Contrasting colors in the walls, upholstery, window treatments generate a lot of eye “noise” and will totally steal the show from your art. While a space with less competing colors, highlights it.

For instance, check out the Missoni Spa in Edinburgh, Scotland. Notice the room color scheme and how the tile, paint and finishes are tones of aqua to put the focus on the colorful Missoni towels and candles.

Now consider this, you could totally swap the Missoni accents for aqua and white ones and voila – a gorgeous space to highlight and display Alluringly Amsterdam by Fazzino. If you look closely you’ll see small touches of the same aqua the spa sports in the painting!

If you’re feeling playful when styling your room, pick out another subtle color from the painting and add a few solid accessories like pillows or flowers. The larger your surrounding area the bigger your objects!

2. Room Theme

Another way to integrate your art when styling a room is theme. The key here is not focusing on the obvious. Take for instance, Moonstruck Over Manhattan. A bunch of skyscraper figurines would be waaayyy too matchy matchy, BUT what about the light? The moon, stars, glowing buildings are a subtle component of this piece.

So let it shine! Why not flank Moonstruck with sparkly wall sconces or hang it near a chandelier?

From a different perspective, at the Sans Souci Spa lounge in Jamaica, I am in love with the hot air balloon fixtures.

Displaying The Belmont Stakes 2005 artwork by Fazzino would not only perk up that back wall gallery in the spa’s lounge, but sneakily tie in the hot air balloon fixtures.

See what I’m getting at? Subtlety ties it together and gets guests & your mind relating to the objects, but also thinking. Now that’s a spa thing!

2012 is shaping up to be a a big year for me. So, for the record, here are some of the things i have in the works and some projects i’m hoping to complete

1. Super Bowl XLVI: Indianapolis. We head to Indy this year for our 11th Super Bowl! Looking forward to it especially after the unveiling of the artwork late last year at the National Art Museum of Sport with Colts wide receiver Reggie Wayne. We’ll be at the NFL Experience, the Taste of the NFL…and who knows where else.

2. The Ride: Have you heard of it? Well, if you haven’t yet, you will soon! It’s a fantastic new, interactive, bus tour/broadway show attraction in NYC and I have some exciting plans  brewing with them for this year, so stay tuned!

3. London Olympic Games: I’m heading to London this year to commemorate my seventh Olympic Games for the United States Olympic Team and i’m very much looking forward to that!

4. The Fazzino Arts Education Initiative will finally receive its formal kickoff this year with a workshop and reception at my studio in March with the Edgemont School District. Will share more when we have more news.

5. Of course, i have some wonderful new releases planned for this year, including “Moonstruck Over Manhattan,” “Vampires…The Twilight of New Orleans,” “Jerseylicious,” “Google It…Facebook Me…Tweet It…LOL…OMG” (Can you GUESS what that ones about? ), “O Beautiful for Spacious Skies…America (a tribute to America’s National Parks)”…and some new works on Beverly Hills, Rock and Roll, and of course, Broadway! I’m excited about all of them.

6. I’m proud to be working on the official artwork for the 40th anniversary of the Hineni Center, an incredible organization.

7. New puzzles of my work are planned for Barnes & Noble this year and new luggage is being released by Heys USA. Stay tuned for more exciting product announcements in 2012!

8. The Major League Baseball All-Star Game is headed to Kansas City in July…and so am I!

9.  My tour continues with trips to Japan, Germany, London…and domestic stops in New Jersey, Long Island, Florida, California, and beyond….I’m looking forward to travelling with my Heys USA Luggage

10. I’m very proud also to have been chosen the official artist for OpSail 2012. I’m honored and looking forward to painting all of the tall ships!

Ok, so there’s the top 10 for 2012….i do have some other big announcements up my sleeve but will have to hold onto those for now.

“I’m honored to continue the line of Olympic pins for NBC,” stated Charles Fazzino from his NY Studio. “Being an Olympic artist was a dream of mine since i was a kid. I knew i’d never be an Olympic athlete….but i aspired to be an Olympic artist. The relationship with NBC has been wonderful an I look forward to celebrating the Olympic Games with my artwork for years to come.”

A signing of Olympic pins in teh NBC Experience Store in New York City is being discussed. A final date for teh signing has yet to be determined.

Along with the pin, Fazzino has released both a poster print and a limited edition fine artwork for the London Olympic Games, both of which will also be sold at the NBC Experience Store or at any authorized Fazzino Art Gallery.

So, if you’re in the area during the holidays, stop by the Hall of Fame and take a look at the Fazzino artwork created during Induction Weekend. And of course, if you’re visiting the Hall of Fame on December 10th, take part in the Fazzino Holiday Master Class Workshop with Diane Stensland.

I also can’t believe how well the luggage has held up. It’s been all over the world! The worst that’s happened is a few scuff marks….and my wife has found the PERFECT thing to use to clean the luggage – Mister Clean “Magic Erasers” – i should get an endorsement fee for recommending them . She found that if you dampen the erasers (which you can get in any grocery store) and rub them lightly over the luggage, they take off everything and make the pieces look like new again.

I also discovered this cool new service that’s starting to take hold in airports….it’s called “Secure Wrap.” It’s done by a company that has contracted with airports all over the world. I think they are only in a couple of airports in the US but are looking to expand. We came across them at the Indianapolis International Airport. For $9, they’ll wrap your luggage in shrink wrap to protect it. They even work with airport security so that if they need to get inside your luggage, they’ll open it and then have it re-wrapped before it goes on the plane. It’s very cool and takes only a minute or so….another good way to keep the luggage looking brand new. Oh, and they insure you against damage!

I CAN guarantee you one thing – you’ll NEVER lose site of your luggage on the carousel as it comes off the plane! I just love it and am so proud of it! Neiman Marcus and Macys’ (in store) are the best places to get the collection. Or you can see it on our website in the gift shop.
