Today we continued a tradition. I’ve created seven sets of Olympic pins exclusive to NBC and each time, i’ve done a signing at the NBC Experience Store. Today was the signing for the Vancouver pin collection. This might be my favorite set yet and it was great to see all of my friends….and “pin collectors” there
.
If you’re interested, these four-layer collectibles can be found on the NBC/Universal Website at http://www.nbcuniversalstore.com/detail.php?p=255586&v=olympics_collectible-pins. It’s amazing how over the years, i’ve seen these pins all over the world. I’ve walked into gallery signings in Europe only to find collectors waiting for me to sign a bag of Olympic pins. It’s become quite the collectible and i love watchign the phenomenon grow. I’m proud of the pins and the way that Aminco International has been able to translate my 3D style into such an impressive product.

Charles Fazzino has been commissioned as one of 17 international artists to create an artwork featured in the 2010 FIFA World Cup Soccer Official Poster Edition. This is the second time that Fazzino has worked with FIFA, as he was asked to create a limited edition, 3-D work to celebrate the 2006 World Cup in Germany. As the only American artist in the group, Fazzino is part of a world-class group including seven South African artists and artists from Japan, China, Brazil, Senagal, Ethiopia, and beyond.
The series is available for purchase individually or as a complete 2010 FIFA World Cup Collection. Fazzino stated from his New York Studio: “I am honored to be working with FIFA for the second time. Soccer has become, in a sense, the global language for the sports world. Everyone plays it….everywhere. The World Cup brings the nations together every four years, similar to the way The Olympic Games do. It’s a passionate tournament that has so much significance for so many. I’m glad that through my artistry, I can help people capture those moments forever.”
Project coordinator, Renate Bauer, was recently asked about the connection between soccer and art. She replied that ”art is as much a global phenomenon that speaks a universal language as football. Both also somehow originate from enthusiasm: both can be pursued only with uncompromising passion, talent and effort.”
The entire collection can be seen and purchased at www.2010ArtEdition.de

Earlier this week, i was in Fort Lauderdale to unveil my tenth Super Bowl commemorative artwork for the NFL. I can’t believe it’s been ten years! I don’t know if it will hit me until i get back to Miami for the actual festivities in February, but the NFL has been an absolute pleasure to work with. I’m honored that they have allowed me to create a ten-year Super Bowl pop art collection…..a collection about which i’m very proud.
Some wonderful people joined me for the unveiling. First of all, i have to extend my thanks to Kim Bokamper - a gentleman, former Dolphin great, and brilliant businessman. He opened the doors of his incredible sports bar – Bokamper’s – to us and to the South Florida Super Bowl Host Committee for this incredible event. Dolphins defensive end Randy Starks and Miss Florida USA 2010 Megan Clementi, also helped me to unveil the piece.
I am also honored to be working with Altadis USA this year…specifically Jim Colucci and Janelle Rosenfeld….to create the first Super Bowl Montecristo humidor. We unveiled that at Bokamper’s too and it was absolutely spectacular.
You can see a video of the entire event in the Media Room of my website.
I’m looking forward to going back in February for a week of events including two gallery shows with Wentworth Galleries, an appearance at the Taste of the NFL, two humidor signings, and a stint in the Dolphins team store on Pro Bowl Sunday and Super Bowl Sunday. It’s going to be an exciting week and we hope to see as many of you down in South Florida as possible!

I had a fun day yesterday….ESPN host Trey Wingo had asked me to create one of my 3-D hand-painted football pop art helmets for his NFL Live Show. I finally finished it and delivered it up to the studios yesterday. I had the opportunity to meet Trey in person for the first time – what a GREAT guy! He gave us a tour of the ESPN facility. They have 10 buildings up there in Bristol, CT and it’s like a little village all to itself. I saw the old studios and the new studios and studios i couldn’t even tell you the purpose of! The way they move in the baseball “fields’ and the basketball “courts” is just amazing. The technology is very cool.
Anyway, Trey unveiled the helmet on the show last night at midnight and then again this afternoon on the 4pm broadcast and i was flattered by what he said. I hope he and the cast enjoy it for a long time to come!
–Charles
