My favorite sport is baseball because I have been a die-hard Yankees fan since I was a child. I have many fond memories of my dad taking me to my first game in the 60's and also of taking him to old-timers day ever year in his later years. I also have great memories of the stadium with my own son, in particular David Wells' perfect game! I will be going to the stadium tomorrow, as well as this coming Sunday - the ginal game at Yankee Stadium. I'm sure that Sunday will be an emotional day for me, and for many others that grew up attending Yankee games in the House that Ruth built.

My friends and I often ask each other: is foosball a sport since it's so different than the typical games? This often turns inot a debate and especially while playing. Not only can you actually break a sweat, the game/sport requires a great amount of timing, accuracy, strength, and strategy. It can be played one-on-one, one-on-two, or two-on-two. The game moves extremely fast, denying anyone the ability to warm up as do other typical sports. In foosball, you could be defeated in less than 2 minutes...what a sport! As with other sports, foosball requires an offense and a defense and the same "athlete" must be good at both. The best reason for this "sport" is the sportsmanship needed. I have never participated or even witnessed a foosball fight...now that is a real sport. You play the hard-fought game, and when it's over, you reach over the table to shake your opponent's sweaty palm. Now where can we say that about our other sports and their sportsmanship!! The final criteria is you do not have to be an A-1 conditioned athlete to enjoy this sport.

You guys have to be kidding-favorite sport FOOTBALL, why because of the excitement and also because of the way Charles is able to capture the intensity of the sport. I reference "Go Big Blue," Super Bowl XLII, as well as the other football pieces but especially the Giants helmet, there's always excitement. Every helmet is unique (or at least mine are) and they all represent specific memories, mostly good but always picturesque.

My favorite sport is baseball, mainly because I know when it starts the warm weather is starting too, and I look forward to summer all year. In addition, it always reminds me of summers as a kid, coming home from the beach with my dad, and hearing the game on the car radio. Actually, no matter which male I was in a car with on a summer weekend for the past 49 years, the game was on the radio!

I have loved baseball and the excitement of it since I was a little girl, when my daddy would take me to the Orioles games and my hero was Brooks Robinson. I was very much a tomboy then, and used to put all of my hair up under a baseball cap, and everyone called me Little Brooks. Later on, we moved to a new area and lo and behold, guess who lived around the corner. Yep, Brooks Robinson. My friends and I went trick or treating to his house and what a gentleman he was on and off the field. He signed our baseballs and even invited us in to show us his Glove Room. Do you realize what that means to a kid? As i got older, i was out and about and had many chances to encounter Cal Ripken, Jr. who is about the same age as i am. And i don't know if it is just Baltimore's third basemen, but these two gentlemen have mor egrace and class in their little fingers than any people i have seen in the sports world today. Isn't that what it's all about, being nice to people?
