MusiCares is a Great Cause

I was recently informed by a friend of mine about a new campaign launched by MusiCares, the charitable arm of the GRAMMY Awards Foundation. When i was asked to do the 3d pop art for the 2004 GRAMMY Awards, i had the great pleasure of working with them also.

Their formal mission statement says that “MusiCares provides a safety net of critical assistance for music people in times of need.” Now THAT’s an understatement if i ever heard one. There are countless stories of lives saved and communities affected by the good works they do. Read about some of them on the website.

Recently, MusiCares launched a new fundraising campaign called “Be a Part of the Heart.” It’s ingenious really. All you have to do is donate a $1 to the cause and you can add your photo to what will end up being the world’s largest photo mosaic. If you’re on Facebook, you can “like” MusiCares at and read about the project. Then donate and add your face to the likes of Bon Jovi, Rascal Flatts, Martina McBride, Selena Gomez….and ME! I did it too and i’m excited to see what the final piece looks like. Here’s the picture i added….me and Recording Academy President Neil Portnow at the unveiling of my artwork in 2004.
