NORTH TEXAS – The 100-day countdown to the most anticipated sporting event in North Texas begins with a joint luncheon of the North Texas Super Bowl XLV Host Committee and the North Texas Commission on Thursday, Oct. 28 at Cowboys Stadium. The 100-day XLV Countdown Luncheon will commemorate the journey from the successful Super Bowl XLV bid in 2007 to kick-off on Sunday, Feb. 6, 2011.

“Super Bowl XLV is a premier event that will put North Texas in the spotlight on the global stage,” said Bill Lively, President and CEO of the North Texas Super Bowl XLV Host Committee. “The impact our region will feel from this event will be long-lasting in terms of economic and community development.”

The luncheon will be held on the field at Cowboys Stadium and will unveil the commemorative artwork of Super Bowl XLV by Charles Fazzino, one of the most popular and highly-collected pop artists of all time. Officially licensed by the NFL to create limited edition art, Fazzino captures the spirit of each Super Bowl host city through a mastering of 3D pop art. Those attending the luncheon will have the first opportunity to purchase Fazzino’s unique Super Bowl XLV artwork. NFL fans can also view Fazzino’s work at the NFL Experience during Super Bowl XLV week.

“We are excited to come together with the North Texas Super Bowl XLV Host Committee to kick off the countdown to the best example of the power of regional collaboration,” said Mabrie Jackson, President and CEO of the North Texas Commission. “This is an event that joins municipalities, businesses and education institutions together for the single goal of putting on a spectacular event for the entire world to see.”

Just returned from a whirlwind trip to Texas. Love it out there. My wife is from Galveston and so i’ve spent a lot of time there, but this was my first trip to Austin. Started in Austin for another joint pop art show with Michael Godard at the Russell Collection. What an incredibly beautiful gallery. The owner, Lisa Russell, is someone who i have only recently had a chance to get to know…she KNOWS what she is doing and is a wonderful gallery owner. Had a great time out there. On Friday, i did a one-hour live art project on KEYE TV’s “We Are Austin Live” show and on Saturday, morning, we did an interactive project with a big group of kids at the gallery. The final work will be installed at the Dell Children’s Hospital. The folks at the hospital were kind enough to give me a tour of their facilities on Friday. I hope that my artwork can take some of the patient’s minds of their ailments if even for only a few minutes. Dell is an amazing hospital.

I admittedly didn’t have good “restaurant luck” in Austin until Saturday night. On Friday, i wanted to find some good Texas barbecue. Unfortunately, someone sent me to Stubb’s which is famous for it’s music….but not necessarily for it’s barbecue. On Saturday, though, i found myself at Maria Maria…..GREAT for Mexican and entertainment in the heart of Austin. I highly recommend it.

On Sunday, after the afternoon session at Russell Gallery, i flew to Dallas to participate in the Dallas Cowboys Taste of the NFL event. I was invited by the Cowboys to do a poster signing and show some of my Cowboys artwork. I met several of the playesr (see Deon Anderson below) and signed with the famous Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders. The hand-painted helmet i donated to their auction was actually purchased by Wade Phillips’s wife. I can’t tell you why she bought it though…it’s a secret! shhhh.

I’m looking forward to going back to Dallas for the Super Bowl in early 2011 and to working with both the Cowboys and the Host Committee in the meantime. We have some exciting plans in the works for the NFL Experience and some other events, so stay tuned. Just started working on the artwork. But you can see the piece i currently have on the new Dallas Cowboys stadium at http://www.fazzino.com/football-art-prints-charles-fazzino.htm

The NTFB’s Food 4 Kids program provides backpacks full of nutritious food to chronically hungry children identified by local schools each semester, and for the second year will continue its outreach through summer school. The Food Bank will additionally extend its operation of 22 Kids Cafes during June, July and August – serving kids 3-5 days a week at camps and other programs in at-risk areas. Many families will also rely on local food pantries to provide sustenance while school is out. But work remains to be done. According to recent USDA data, Texas leads the nation with the highest rate of food insecure children; currently 1 in 5 lives in a household without consistent access to nutrition. Please visit the Food Bank’s website at www.ntfb.org for additional event information, to learn more about the nonprofit’s programs serving children or to see how you can help make a difference today. For every dollar donated, NTFB is able to provide four meals those in need.

About Gene and Jerry Jones Family Charities

For the past 21 years, Jerry Jones and his family have owned and operated the Dallas Cowboys with a management style that places just as much emphasis on community leadership as it does on the goal of winning the Super Bowl. The dominant theme which underscores the Cowboys role in the community is to maximize the visibility, energy and celebrity of the world’s most recognizable sports franchise and use those dynamic forces as a powerful means to helping others. The results on the field have brought championships to Dallas. The results away from the field have touched the lives of thousands.

Sometimes i create exclusive art editions for some of my dealers. Because these pieces aren’t widely available, many of my collectors aren’t aware that they exist. I just sent two editions to Steiner Sports Memorabilia, one of the premiere sports memorabilia companies in the marketplace, and i thought you’d want to know about them.

Many of you have requested that i paint the Dallas Cowboys and i finally did it for Steiner Sports! And it’s the new stadium…..in all its hope and glory! I also finally had the opportunity to paint the University of Alabama Crimson Tide. AU is one of the most storied college teams in sports history and i had a great time painting the campus, the local haunts…and of course, the stadium.

Contact Steiner Sports at www.steinersports.com or 800-759-SCORE if you’re interested in either one of these football editions and visit my site to see the rest of the currently available football collection.
