Charles Fazzino to Create Official Artwork Commemorating the 137th Running of The Belmont Stakes

Charles Fazzino has been named by The New York Racing Association to be the Official Artist of the 137th running of The Belmont Stakes on June 11th. His Official Artwork will be used to create the Belmont Stakes program cover and Official limited edition print and poster. The 2005 Belmont Stakes is scheduled for Saturday, June 11th on the historic oval at Belmont Park. The Grade 1, $1million Belmont Stakes, the 1 1/2 mile "Test of Champions" for three-year-olds, and the final and most demanding leg of the Visa Triple Crown, is one of the great events in sports.

This year, the 137th running of The Belmont Stakes will again be the centerpiece of Belmont Park's 60-day Spring/Summer Meet, but it will be an even more special event, as this year marks the 100th anniversary of Belmont Park.

"We are excited that Charles Fazzino will be the Official Artist of this year's Belmont Stakes," said New York Racing Association President and CEO Charles Hayward. "We are confident that his unique style will capture all the energy, passion, and excitement of the Belmont Stakes."

Charles Fazzino presented Hall-of-Fame Jockey Angel Cordero, Jr. with an original painting celebrating his stellar career at a Belmont Stakes reception at Glo in New York City.

Charles Fazzino created a special racing poster to benefit Alex's Lemonade Stand, an organization that raises funds for Childhood Cancer treatment and research. The owners of 2005 Belmont Stakes winner Afleet Alex, work closely with Alex's Lemonade Stand. This piece was unveiled
at the Glo reception by Charles Fazzino. Looking on is Afleet Alex's jockey Jeremy Rose
