FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Charles Fazzino Completes Art Collection for Sixth Olympic Games in a Row
Officially Licensed Olympic Artist Charles Fazzino has released his latest Olympic Games Art Collection. The collection consits of a three-dimensional, limited edition artwork available at all authorized Fazzino galleries, and a series of two exclusive collectors pins for NBC.
The three-dimensional limited edition consists of 100 Deluxe prints at an image size of 12″ x 16.5″. Contact your favorite Fazzino dealer for pricing and availability or email us at info@fazzinocollectors.com for more information.
The two NBC collectors pins are the next in a series of collaborations between Fazzino and the Olympic Games Broadcasting Network that began in 2004 with the Athens Olympic Games. The first is a four-layered pin in the shape of a snowflake that captures the beauty of Vancouver and the Majesty of Whistler Mountain. The scene is completed by athletic figures representing the competitions that will take place.
The second pin is a 4-layered product of the artistic and cultural collaboration between Charles Fazzino and renowned Squamish First Nation artist Xwalacktun. Fazzino’s inspiration comes from the physical characteristics and landscape of Vancouver, while Xwalacktun shares with us the traditional cultural icons and imagery passed down to him by his ancestors, his family, and his community.
These pins are exclusively available through NBC and can be ordered at www.nbcuniversalstore.com

I, along with the rest of the world, have watched in horror as those poor people in Haiti struggle to keep going….I can’t believe the devastation…the suffering. It’s beyond belief. I don’t need to comment any further about it. I think we all know how bad it is over there.
Aside from making personal donations, i wanted to do a little something more. I painted this 8″ x 10″ flat canvas over the last week. It’s titled “The Quiet Shores of Haiti” and i’d like to sell it to benefit Haiti relief. So, i’m putting it up for silent auction. The minimum bid is $500 and you can email your bids to info@fazzinocollectors.com. The highest bidder on February 15th will win the painting. I will also request that the painting be paid for by a check made out directly to any of the major Haiti relief funds…The Red Cross, UNICEF, The Clinton Foundation, etc. The organization will have to be approved by me and my staff. If the bidding is tied on February 15th at 12:00 noon EST, all those with the highest bid will be given one opportunity to increase their bid. Should there still be a tie, the winner will be chosen by random drawing.
CHECK BACK HERE TO SEE THE BIDDING STATUS. WE WILL POST THE HIGHEST BIDS. BIDS MUST BE PLACED IN INCREMENTS OF $25
Current High Bid 2/3/2010 – $625
Thank you for your support and happy bidding!

I just returned from my annual January jaunt to Japan. I go there every January to do shows and signings for my Japanese Agent, High Spirits & Yu. I find it interesting because being from New York, the big cities in Japan are the only place in the world i can travel to and actually be overhelmed by the congestion and architechture and sheer magnitude. Nagoya is incredible…with these tall skyscrapers and all the people!
I did three shows in three days….two at the Mitsugoshi Department Store in Nagoya and one at the Takashimaya in Tokyo. Most of the high end art shows happen in department stores in Japan – very high end places with an incredible clientele. They had to give out numbers to people so they didn’t have to wait on line for hours to get my signature. They were able to go shopping while they waited for their numbers to be called.
The highlight of my trip had to be meeting this one fan in Tokyo. His name was Shu-To. He spoke English and told me that he was also an artist and that he had created a present for me. From behind his back, he whipped out the coolest looking airbrushed T-shirt! I was impressed. Really neat! He and his buddies own an airbrush shop and you can see more of their work at www.clowns-entertainment.com.
I never return from my trips to Japan without an interesting story to tell. It’s always an adventure. I’m looking forward to my next trip in March.
Enjoy!

Chris Van Horn, a budding artist and friend of the family, emailed me some of his images a couple of weeks ago. He’s thinking about self-publishing his work…a new voice looking for an outlet. I actually saw his work for the first time and I love it! I wanted to share it with you. The subject matter is definitely a little bit dark. In his own words, he’s “exploring the idea of not being heard and not being able to express yourself through words or actions.” That’s pretty evident with the metal plates covering most of the mouths of his subjects.
I would actually venture to say that Chris’s work is remeniscent of Salvador Dali….abstract and illustrative…but they do tell a story. The composition is fantastic and his sense of balance and color are top notch. He’s definitely telling a story, but he leaves a lot of the interpretation of that story to the viewer of his art – i think that’s true art. I think that everyone looking at it will see and feel and hear something different.
My favorite piece is the first one below – with the crossed hands and the fire. I find it very thought-provoking.
Chris is one of so many young and talented artists looking for their voices and waiting for a break. I think his voice is certainly unique and i think his break might be right around the corner. If you want to see more of his work, you can contact him at dklilgremlins@aol.com.
Thanks for sending these Chris!

My daughter Heather gave me the coolest present for Christmas. There is a website called www.skins.com where you can custom make your own cell phone and ipod covers. She made me a set of cell phone covers from her art and mine. I love them! The first one i’m using was made from my Universal Studios Monsters artwork. I plan to put one of hers on next. Check it out the next time you’re looking for a really cool, really personal gift.

The New Rochelle Council on the Arts was formed in 1975 and it’s just one of thousands of local arts councils throughout the country that are at the grassroots of supporting and promoting the arts in local communities. They recently asked me to be one of the judges for their upcoming Spring Exhibition. I accepted with honor. Those of you who read this blog know that i am a big proponent of Arts Education and i see my involvement in events like this one as an extension of that. I’m really looking forward to it.
Of course, this means that the New Rochelle Council is also accepting entries for this contest NOW. The deadline for entries is January 1sst and the subject is “Utopioptix: Visions of the Future Then and Now.” You can visit the New Rochelle Council Website for the whole prospectus and information about how to enter. The First Prize will be $500 and the Second Prize will be $250. I encourage all the local artists out there to enter…you never know!
Good Luck!

Charles Fazzino has been commissioned as one of 17 international artists to create an artwork featured in the 2010 FIFA World Cup Soccer Official Poster Edition. This is the second time that Fazzino has worked with FIFA, as he was asked to create a limited edition, 3-D work to celebrate the 2006 World Cup in Germany. As the only American artist in the group, Fazzino is part of a world-class group including seven South African artists and artists from Japan, China, Brazil, Senagal, Ethiopia, and beyond.
The series is available for purchase individually or as a complete 2010 FIFA World Cup Collection. Fazzino stated from his New York Studio: “I am honored to be working with FIFA for the second time. Soccer has become, in a sense, the global language for the sports world. Everyone plays it….everywhere. The World Cup brings the nations together every four years, similar to the way The Olympic Games do. It’s a passionate tournament that has so much significance for so many. I’m glad that through my artistry, I can help people capture those moments forever.”
Project coordinator, Renate Bauer, was recently asked about the connection between soccer and art. She replied that ”art is as much a global phenomenon that speaks a universal language as football. Both also somehow originate from enthusiasm: both can be pursued only with uncompromising passion, talent and effort.”
The entire collection can be seen and purchased at www.2010ArtEdition.de
