Charles Fazzino is proud to host the second annual EXPRESSIONS Art Show, benefiting CHOICE of NY. According to its mission statement, CHOICE (Consumers Helping Others in a Caring Environment) is:

Consumer Helping Others In a Caring Environment is a unique and successful nonprofit peer-run agency. We help, encourage and support people who, like ourselves, have used mental health services. CHOICE offers programs for individuals who have traditionally been under-served and require assistance to obtain or maintain vital services. We seek to help people become fully empowered, independent and integrated into the wider community.

But it is so much more than that. CHOICE is people…caring people…who understand from first hand experience how difficult it is to navigate through all of the complexities and pitfalls of life when you are struggling with mental illness. With an unmatched level of compassion and attention, the people of CHOICE not only connect people to the services that are out there for them…therapy, housing, jobs, financial aid, medical care, food, utilities, insurance, and more…but they guide them through the process of utilizing those services. What makes CHOICE so special is that they also take everything one step further. They treat their clients as individuals and engage them in the work of recovery – helping them find the keys to moving forward and feeling better about themselves and the world around them.

That’s where the art therapy program comes in. Among other vehicles, CHOICE has created a weekly art program and invites clients to indulge their creativity as they explore their feelings, motivations, fears, and dreams. This very powerful program has allowed the staff at CHOICE to reach clients previously unreachable. It’s amazing to watch someone who is barely verbal walk into the art room and become engaged in a project that allows him to express previously strangling emotions buried deep inside. Art allows people to explore their feelings in a less threatening manner and perhaps face them and successfully work their way through them.

The Second Annual CHOICE Fundraiser at Fazzino Studios

Charles Fazzino has long been a loud proponent of both Art Education and Art Therapy. That’s why we’ve decided to partner with CHOICE to hold a second annual EXPRESSIONS Art Show Fundraiser for this wonderful organization at Charles Fazzino’s private studios on Tuesday, September 30th. Similar to last year, the event will consist of a private art show, guided studio tour, and reception. The event will also honor Mr. Ashley Brody, Associate Executive Director of Search for Change, Inc and a CHOICE board member and supporter. You’ll have the opportunity to view some never-before-seen Fazzino 3D pop art pieces as well as some of the work by the clients of CHOICE. It promises to be an entertaining, educational, and inspiring evening and we hope you’ll consider joining us.
