I have participated in the Doodle for Hunger event for more than ten years now. Put together by my friends Joe Sano and Father Francis, the annual event is one of the best attended charity events in New York City – benefiting The St. Francis Food Pantries and Shelters. Direct from their press release:

“On Thursday, November 3, 2011 at 6:00pm, colorful and original signed works of art or “doodles,” created by actors, artists, politicians, and sports icons will be auctioned off at “Doodle for Hunger XII” the annual auction hosted by St. Francis Food Pantries and Shelters, which feed and shelter over nine thousand underprivileged families in New York each week.” This special event, hosted by Fox 5’s Ernie Anastos, will include a cocktail party, Doodle preview, silent and live auctions led by acting great Tony Lo Bianco. The event will take place at Pier Sixty Chelsea Piers.”

I submitted the Doodle you see below, but unfortunately cannot attend in person this year because of my pending trip to Paris. I would love to see the doodles that Joe has collected this year. Rumor has it there are works by Betty White, John Travolta, Nathan Lane, and hundreds of others. The work that Joe and Father Francis do is incredible and I don’t know how many New Yorkers would survive without them.

It’s a very fun event and i urge you to check it out if you’ve never gone….or even if you have. You can get more info about the event on their website at DoodleforHunger.com. Let me know if you happen to bid on and win my doodle. If you do, i’d be happy to personalize it for you after the event!
